Retire the plastic. Put the card in the phone.

Museums, gardens, and historical societies issue a membership card that lives on the member's phone. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet as soon as our issuer accounts finish verifying. Members tap an email. You scan at the door. Renewals reissue the card, with nothing printed and nothing posted. Visits write back to the database you already run as soon as Blackbaud authorizes the connection.

No card required to set up. One flat price, published below. Sign in lives on the Passage app.

Who it is for

Places that still mail a card.

If your front desk asks for a plastic card, a PDF on a phone, or a name lookup, Passage is the next version of that moment. Built first for cultural nonprofits. Other member shops can ask.

How it works

Set up in an afternoon. Then it runs.

1

Add your members

Import a spreadsheet, or connect Raiser's Edge NXT. Every adult on a household membership gets their own card.

2

They add the card

An email, one tap, and the card is on the phone. No app to download. No password to remember.

3

You scan at the door

Any phone camera or a USB barcode scanner. Free admission, member pricing, or a lapsed prompt. The visit is recorded.

4

It writes back

Admissions and event check-ins land on the constituent record as soon as Blackbaud authorizes the connection. Two way, not a side spreadsheet.

See it

What a member carries, and what the desk sees.

These are the real screens, captured from a working Passage workspace. The organization in them does not exist and every member, address, and check-in shown is invented sample data.

A membership card on a phone screen, showing the organization name, a Sustaining level badge, the member's name, an Active status, an expiry date of 2027-03-17, a reciprocal admission badge, and a square barcode beside the member number.

The card lives in the member's phone

Level, status, expiry, reciprocal benefits, and a barcode the front desk can scan. Every adult on a household membership gets their own, so a visit is recorded against the person who actually walked in.

Nothing is printed and nothing is posted. A card is built from the membership record at the moment it is issued, so after a renewal the member's portal link hands them a card carrying the new expiry.

The Passage door and event check-in screen in a browser: a selector for which site is scanning, a box to scan a barcode or type a card number, and a result panel reading FREE ADMISSION with the member's level and a note that the check-in was recorded.
The door Runs in a browser on a phone or a laptop. Scan the barcode or type the card number and the desk gets one answer straight away: free admission, member pricing, or a lapsed prompt. The visit is recorded as it happens.
The Passage staff dashboard with eight summary tiles: active member households, active member cards, memberships in the renewal window, lapsed households, memberships expiring within 90 days, check-ins in the last 30 days, ticketed events, and annualized dues run-rate.
The dashboard Membership at a glance: who is active, who is in the renewal window, who has lapsed, and how many people came through the door in the last thirty days. Every tile opens the list behind it.
The Passage member list: a searchable table of member cards with columns for member and email, level, status, membership, expiry date, and card ID, above buttons to add a member, import from a spreadsheet, download a CSV, and a panel offering to sync from Raiser's Edge NXT.
The member list Every card on file, searchable, with status and expiry on the row. Add someone by hand, import a spreadsheet, download the lot as a CSV, or connect Raiser's Edge NXT so that, as soon as Blackbaud authorizes the connection, door check-ins and contact corrections write back to the constituent record.

Captured from a Passage demo workspace. Riverside Historical Society is a fictional organization, and the people, addresses, and check-ins in these screens are invented sample data.

The short version, if you are not going to watch

A membership list arrives by spreadsheet or comes across from Raiser's Edge NXT. Every adult on it gets an email, taps once, and the card is on the phone with no app to download. At the door, a phone camera or a USB barcode scanner reads the card and the desk sees free admission, member pricing, or a lapsed prompt. That visit lands back on the constituent record as soon as Blackbaud authorizes the connection. On renewal, the member's portal link issues a card carrying the new expiry, with nothing printed and nothing posted.

What you get

Everything is in the one price.

No per-member fees. No add-on for the portal. No reprint when someone renews.

Cards that reissue on renewal

After a renewal the member's portal link hands them a card with the new expiry. Nothing is printed and nothing is posted.

A card for every member

Household memberships give each adult their own barcode, so visits are recorded per person rather than guessed.

Door and event check-in

Runs in a browser on a phone or a laptop. Free events wave members in. Ticketed ones show member pricing.

Member self service

A secure email link to see the card, everyone on the membership, and to correct contact details.

Straight answers

If a board chair asks

Is this Voyager?

No. Voyager is the nonprofit command center. Passage is a separate product for membership cards. They can sit next to each other. Passage talks to Raiser's Edge NXT today.

Do members need to download an app?

No. The card opens in the browser from a link in email. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet are added as soon as our issuer accounts finish verifying.

What if a card is lapsed?

The scan shows a lapsed prompt instead of waving them in. The desk can still be kind. The record stays honest.

Can we try it without a plastic reprint cycle?

Yes. Create a workspace, import a list, and issue digital cards beside the plastic you already have. You do not have to retire the old cards on day one.
